Superworm
Superworm is a Christmas special commissioned by the BBC as part of their annual tradition, as an adaptation of an book by Julia Donaldson (writer) and Axel Sheffler (artist). It’s a comedy for all family, and it tells a story of a super-long and super-strong worm, with a very big heart.

I was hired as a 2D designer to help out with props, sets and vfx callouts, as well as later on some colour keys with the Art Director (Pierre-Nicolas Klepper Bayle). The look of the movie was supposed to reflect real life stop motion and feel handmade and crafted, and feel consistent with the films done in previous years (Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, The Snail and the Whale).
As part of my work on the project I was involved in doing detailed breakdowns for assets and exploring how they would’ve been built in real life and referencing real materials. A similar approach was used for FX, where I was researching the methods used in stop motion animation.
In 2022, Superworm was nominated for an Annie Award for Best Special Production.
